Arrival of the USAF Thunderbirds

US Air Force Thunderbird #8, Advance Pilot and Narrator, will arrive in the skies over Patrick Space Force Base on Wednesday, April 12th at approximately 1:15pm.

Thunderbirds #1-7 will arrive on Thursday, April 13th at approximately 3:45pm. We are anticipating a formation arrival and overhead break to land shortly thereafter.

Big News, Literally!

The U.S. Air Force just announced that the B-52 Stratofortress will perform a flyover at the Cocoa Beach Air Show on April 15-16, 2023 over the oceanfront!

The B-52H Stratofortress is a long-range, heavy bomber that can perform a variety of missions. The bomber is capable of flying at high subsonic speeds at altitudes of up to 50,000 feet (15,166.6 meters). It can carry nuclear or precision guided conventional ordnance with worldwide precision navigation capability.

In a conventional conflict, the B-52 can perform strategic attack, close-air support, air interdiction, offensive counter-air and maritime operations.

During Desert Storm, B-52s delivered 40 percent of all the weapons dropped by coalition forces. It is highly effective when used for ocean surveillance and can assist the U.S. Navy in anti-ship and mine-laying operations. In two hours, two B-52s can monitor 140,000 square miles (364,000 square kilometers) of ocean surface.

All B-52s can be equipped with two electro-optical viewing sensors, a forward-looking infrared and advanced targeting pods to augment targeting, battle assessment and flight safety, further improving its combat ability.

Pilots wear night vision goggles, or NVGs, to enhance their vision during night operations. Night vision goggles provide greater safety during night operations by increasing the pilot’s ability to visually clear terrain, increasing the peacetime and combat situational awareness of the aircrew and improving their ability to visually acquire other aircraft.

E/A-18G Growler Joins the Show!

The U.S. Navy just announced that the E/A-18G Airshow Team has been added and will be on display at the Cocoa Beach Air Show on April 15-16, 2023 over the oceanfront!

The EA-18G Growler is a variant in the F/A-18 family of aircraft that combines the proven F/A-18F Super Hornet platform with a sophisticated electronic warfare suite. Built to replace the EA-6B Prowler, the Growler is the first newly-designed electronic warfare aircraft produced in more than 35 years. The aircraft also retains all of the F/A-18E/F’s multi-mission capabilities with its validated design and the capability to perform a wide range of enemy defense suppression missions.

The Flight Line Club is the ultimate spot on the beach to watch the Cocoa Beach Air Show. Enjoy this VIP beach experience featuring tents for shade and eating, a catered lunch right on the beach with soft drinks water and beer all while you stay safe and separate from others around you.

A catered lunch will be served from 11:30a to 1:30p with draft beer, soft drinks and water served all day long with tents and tables for eating and space for getting out of the sun. When you’re ready to watch the show take a seat directly on the beach directly on the aerial 50 yard line at Show Center and watch the jets soar overhead with plenty of space to stay safe and separate from others. The Sand Boxes feature your own reserved beach area where you can relax and enjoy the spectacle of flight with your family or friends knowing you’ll be separated from other spectators. Sand Boxes accommodate 4 people and include beach chairs and an umbrella so you can leave all your stuff at home.

The Sand Boxes are a perfect way for families with young children, the elderly, or at risk to enjoy the Cocoa Beach Air Show worry-free. If you have a larger group, you can reserve two Sand Boxes side-by-side. Food and beverage stands, portable restrooms and hand sanitizing stations are provided exclusively for the Sand Boxes in ample quantity to insure separation from others. Please note that the 4-person limit of the Sand Boxes includes all children, regardless of age, including infants. Should you have 5+ guests in your party, please select more than one adjacent Sand Box.
