The B-52 Stratofortress is a long-range strategic heavy bomber flown by the United States Air Force since the 1950s. This heavy bomber is capable of carrying up to 35 tons of weapons and can fly nearly 9,000 miles without refueling. The B-52’s wings span 185 feet and are designed to vertically flex as much as 26 feet in flight. Small wheels are mounted near the end of each wing tip to keep them from touching the ground when fully loaded with fuel or during landing.
